Svadara Warna Indonesia achieves success at BIDC 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Svadara Warna Indonesia, a studio under the South Jakarta Culture Sub-agency, achieved success at the Bandung International Dance Competition (BIDC) held in Bandung on 14–16 August 2026.
“We are very grateful for the results obtained by the children at the Bandung International Dance Competition 2026. The gold medal for Tari Selaras Sasmita and the Honorable Mention for Tari Bawi Seraung are certainly a source of happiness and pride for us,” said Svadara Warna Indonesia Chairperson Devi Alviani in Jakarta on Tuesday.
However, she continued, for Svadara the most important thing is not just the medals, but the process the children went through until they were brave enough to stand on the competition stage and give their best performance.
In the competition, Svadara Warna Indonesia fielded two dance teams that showcased the richness of Nusantara traditions through dynamic and artistic choreography. The two works performed were Tari Sasmita Selaras from East Java and Tari Bawi Seraung, inspired by the culture of East Kalimantan.
This achievement is an important milestone as well as proof of Svadara Warna Indonesia’s consistency in nurturing the younger generation through the art of dance. In this participation, Svadara Warna Indonesia brought 31 young dancers and four chaperones.
“For Svadara, competition is not merely about pursuing awards, but a space for children to learn about discipline, courage, responsibility, cooperation, sportsmanship, and the ability to appreciate cultural diversity,” she said.
The competition stage is a space for children to test the training process they have undergone while also learning to face dancers from various backgrounds and regions.
According to Devi, participating in competitions is one of the learning strategies for young dancers. The children are not only trained technically, but are also shaped to have strong mental fortitude and the ability to appreciate the process.
“We want children to understand that achievement does not come instantly. There is practice, there is fatigue, there is evaluation, there is failure, and there is a process of getting back up. Competition is one way for them to learn that every experience on stage is part of their journey as dancers and as individuals,” said Devi.
She hopes the achievement at BIDC 2026 can be a spark of enthusiasm for the entire Svadara Warna Indonesia family to continue growing.
“We hope this achievement does not stop as an award, but becomes new energy to continue learning and creating. Going forward, we want to bring Svadara’s children to more performance and competition spaces, both at national and international levels.
Svadara Warna Indonesia’s achievement at the Bandung International Dance Competition 2026 is also a reminder that traditional art has ample space to continue living, developing, and being introduced to the younger generation.
