Suzuki Fronx 100% Ethanol-Fuelled Vehicle Set to Launch
India’s automotive market is poised to embrace a new era of eco-friendly mobility. Indian automotive giant Maruti Suzuki is reportedly preparing to launch its first flex-fuel vehicle. The debut is scheduled to coincide with World Environment Day. Maruti Suzuki’s entry into the flex-fuel segment is no surprise, as the ‘S’-badged manufacturer has long been quietly researching and developing flex-fuel technology. To demonstrate its commitment, Maruti Suzuki previously showcased a prototype of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx with E100 (100% ethanol) standards at the Japan Mobility Show. Alongside the manufacturer’s product preparations, the Indian government is also accelerating efforts to build a supporting ecosystem. Currently, authorities are finalising plans to establish approximately 5,000 E100 fuel stations across the country within two years. This aggressive move aims to reduce India’s heavy reliance on crude oil imports. If the launch proceeds as planned, Maruti Suzuki’s flex-fuel vehicles are expected to significantly boost demand for ethanol-fuelled cars in India. Beyond expanding Maruti’s eco-friendly product line, the initiative aligns with India’s ambitions for energy independence and lower air pollution levels.
