Jakarta, Indonesia – The sales performance of four-wheeled or larger vehicles by PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) experienced significant growth in the first quarter of 2026.

The sales surge propelled Suzuki into Indonesia’s top three best-selling car brands in February 2026, achieving 9,659 units sold based on data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers (Gaikindo).

Dony Ismi Himawan Saputra, Deputy Managing Director of SIS, revealed that one of the key driving factors behind this performance stemmed from vehicle purchases by fleet consumers (bulk purchases), including projects supporting the government’s Free Nutritious Meals (Makan Bergizi Gratis, MBG) programme.

Dony explained that fleet consumer purchases constitute a substantial contribution to Suzuki’s commercial vehicle sales. In this segment, approximately half of all purchases originate from fleet consumers.

“Our commercial vehicle sales reached the 6,000 unit mark, with a portion coming from fleet purchases. Of those fleet purchases, 50 per cent is for MBG operations,” Dony stated.

Beyond commercial vehicles, demand for Suzuki passenger cars has also begun increasing ahead of the Hari Raya Lebaran celebrations.

The company recorded passenger car demand in early March rising approximately 15 to 20 per cent compared with the corresponding period in February, with equivalent sales days.

According to Dony, the momentum leading up to Hari Raya Lebaran represents one of the factors driving the increase, as many consumers begin preparing vehicles for their homecoming journeys.

Within Suzuki’s portfolio, models such as the Suzuki Fronx, Suzuki XL7, and Suzuki Ertiga remain the primary contributors to passenger car sales.

Meanwhile, in the commercial vehicle segment, models such as the Suzuki Carry and Suzuki APV continue to experience demand from the business sector, including the healthcare services sector which utilises these vehicles as ambulances.
