Suyudi Ario to be Inaugurated This Afternoon as New National Police Chief
President Prabowo Subianto is set to inaugurate the new Chief of the Indonesian National Police, Suyudi Ario, replacing Listyo Sigit Prabowo, this afternoon, Thursday (1/10/2026). The fit and proper test process was also conducted at Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) this morning.
“The plan is for the new police chief candidate to be inaugurated by the President this afternoon,” stated the Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo, via a short message. However, Prastyo has not yet confirmed whether any other officials will be inaugurated today.
It is noted that today, Commission III of the DPR RI agreed on the appointment of Inspector General Pol. Suyudi Ario Seto as the National Police Chief, succeeding General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo. The Chairman of Commission III, Habiburokhman, requested approval from members during the plenary meeting, asking, “Can this be approved by acclamation?” to which the meeting participants responded, “Agreed.”
Previously, the DPR RI received a presidential letter from President Prabowo, numbered R57/Pres/09/2026 dated 30 September 2026, regarding the proposal for the dismissal from the position of National Police Chief and the appointment to the position of National Police Chief.
Before conducting the fit and proper test, he noted that the DPR had held a meeting in the Deliberation Body and decided to hold the test for Suyudi this morning. “We want to hear the vision, mission, and key points that the police chief candidate will present during today’s event. There is not much time, at most 10 minutes. We invite Mr. Suyudi,” said Habiburokhman.
