Sutrimo Exhumation: Forensic Team Finds No Sharp or Blunt Force Injuries

A forensic team found no signs of wounds caused by blunt or sharp force trauma during a visual examination of the body of a man named Sutrimo. The Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya), together with a forensic team, carried out the exhumation of Sutrimo’s body in Wlahar Village, Wangon District, Banyumas Regency, on Wednesday (12/8). The process lasted approximately 3.5 hours, from 09:30 to 13:00 WIB.

“From the external and internal examination, visually we did not find any signs of injury caused by blunt or sharp force trauma,” said the Head of the Forensic Team, Prof. Yudi, during a press conference on Wednesday (12/8). Yudi stated that his team had taken a number of samples for further examination to determine the cause of Sutrimo’s death.

“We are conducting examinations, including a histopathology examination which will be carried out by a specialist anatomical pathology doctor, and a toxicology examination to look for the presence of poison and so forth, which will be conducted by the Forensic Laboratory Centre (Puslabfor),” he said. “Finally, we are also pursuing the identification process and seeking a more complete cause of death through DNA examination,” he added. Yudi noted that the cause of death would be concluded once the entire examination process by the medical team is complete.

“Currently, the finalisation process is still ongoing, pending the results of the laboratory examinations, namely the histopathology, toxicology, and DNA tests,” he stated. The Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police carried out the exhumation of Sutrimo’s body in Wlahar Village, Wangon District, Banyumas Regency, on Wednesday (12/8).

Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said the exhumation was part of the investigation process to obtain medical and scientific evidence to uncover the cause of the deceased’s death. “Today’s exhumation is part of the investigation process. This activity was carried out through collaboration between Polda Metro Jaya, the Central Java Police, and the Banyumas Police,” Budi said in a statement.

Separately, former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah, has denied information stating that Sutrimo was his head of household (Karumga). Firman Wijaya, a member of Febrie’s legal team, said Sutrimo was mostly tasked with looking after an empty house and living there. Sutrimo also often returned to his hometown or took other jobs, meaning he did not work continuously for Febrie. “So the deceased’s position was not as a head of household as has been widely reported, but rather more as someone who looked after an empty house and lived there,” Firman said in a statement.
