Sutiyoso off to Paris for tsunami meeting

JAKARTA: Governor Sutiyoso, who is also chairman of the Indonesian Association of Provincial Administrations, flew to Paris, France on Friday afternoon to attend a special meeting of the United Cities of Local Governments.

"I have been invited to give a presentation about the calamity in a one-day meeting there," he said.

He added that he would use the opportunity to raise funds for the tsunami victims.

"We also hope to secure financial assistance for local officials to rebuild devastated cities like Meulaboh and Banda Aceh," he said. --JP.
