Suspects in Little Aresha Daycare Case Rise to 27

Police have named 14 new suspects in the child abuse case at Little Aresha Daycare in Yogyakarta, bringing the total number of suspects to 27. The new suspects were previously among 17 witnesses required to report regularly to authorities. “Previously there were 17 witnesses under a mandatory reporting order. Of those, we have now named 14 as suspects. These 14 new suspects are all caregivers,” said Jogja Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Kompol Risky Adrian. He has not yet disclosed the identities or specific roles of the new suspects, but confirmed that their summons as suspects has been scheduled. Earlier, Jogja Police revealed the horrific treatment children endured at the daycare, where they were bound from the moment they arrived until their parents collected them. Jogja Police Chief, Kombes Eva Guna Pandia, stated the children suffered inhumane treatment, including being placed in an overcrowded room with minimal air circulation and tied to doors using cloth fashioned into ropes. The initial 13 suspects and their case files have been transferred to the Jogja District Prosecutor’s Office and declared complete, paving the way for their trial.
