The Yogyakarta City Police have named five new suspects in the case of alleged child abuse at Daycare Little Aresha in Yogyakarta. With this determination, the total number of suspects in the case has now reached 32 people.

The Head of the Women and Children Protection Unit at the Yogyakarta City Police Criminal Investigation Department, First Inspector Apri Sawitri, stated that the five new suspects consist of two kindergarten teachers, two caregivers, and one daycare household staff member. “Regarding the Daycare Little Aresha case, we have named five more suspects, including two kindergarten teachers, two caregivers, and one household staff member,” Apri said on Monday (27/7/2026).

The naming of the two kindergarten teachers as suspects came after investigators developed the results of examinations in the case. Previously, both teachers had been questioned as witnesses and were among the 30 people detained during a raid.

However, from the deepening investigation, police found evidence suggesting different roles for the two. One teacher is suspected of directly committing violence against a child, while the other is suspected of knowing about the incident but allowing it to happen. “It turns out from our development process, one of the two kindergarten teachers committed the act, while the other knew about it and let it happen,” she said.

Meanwhile, the two caregivers and one household staff member newly named as suspects are also alleged to have participated in acts of violence against children.
