Suspects in Attack on Police in Katingan, Central Kalimantan, Arrested One by One

A joint team from the Central Kalimantan Regional Police and the Katingan Resort Police has arrested another man, identified by the initial R, suspected of involvement in the attack on narcotics officers during a drug raid in Tumbang Kalemei village, Katingan Tengah district, Kalimantan Tengah. The incident resulted in the deaths of three Katingan Resort Police personnel. “It is true, we have secured a man with the initial R who is also suspected of being involved in the attack on our officers in Katingan,” said Katingan Police Chief AKBP Dodik Hartono when confirmed in Palangka Raya on Sunday. He stated the arrest was the result of further investigation conducted by the joint team following the capture of several other suspects. According to him, investigators are still probing the role of R in the attack that killed two police personnel. “The suspect is currently being questioned and the case is still under development,” he added. Dodik emphasised that the pursuit of other suspects is ongoing. The joint team from the Central Kalimantan Regional Police and Katingan Resort Police remains active in the field, developing the investigation based on witness statements and collected evidence. “Other suspects are still being pursued by the joint team. We will continue to develop the case until all parties involved are apprehended,” he said. Previously, police had also arrested a man with the initials S, also known as A, for his alleged involvement in the attack on the Katingan Police narcotics unit. The suspect was arrested on a gold dredging barge in the Tumbang Pariyei village area, Katingan Tengah district. The raid targeting a suspected methamphetamine dealer in Tumbang Kalemei village, Katingan Regency, occurred in the early hours of Thursday. During the operation, officers reportedly faced resistance from several individuals armed with sharp weapons. In the incident, Aipda Yudhi Perdana Putra was killed in the line of duty. Bripda Nopandri Ramadhana and Aiptu Sumaryanto were found dead in the Katingan River after being reported missing.
