Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) suspects that the perpetrators in the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus number more than four individuals. “We still believe that beyond these four people, there are other parties involved, so we are still delving into that,” said Komnas HAM Monitoring and Investigation Commissioner Saurlin P. Siagian at the Komnas HAM building in Jakarta on Wednesday. Saurlin also stated that Komnas HAM is focusing on uncovering the involvement of alleged other perpetrators in the case. “Our focus is on trying to gather information regarding the involvement of other parties. Besides the four individuals who have currently been named as suspects, we are trying to explore that to see the possibilities,” he said. According to him, there are indications that the perpetrators number in the teens, and fact-finding is underway based on the latest findings from various parties, including requesting statements from the TNI a few days ago. “One of the things we have requested is that the investigation process at the TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom TNI) proceeds transparently. We have requested three things, one of which is that Komnas HAM be given access to meet with the four perpetrators. That is what we are currently coordinating,” he said. In principle, he stressed, his side wants to ensure that whoever is involved in the acid attack case is held legally accountable. “In principle, from Komnas HAM, we want to ensure that whoever is involved in the acid attack incident against Mr Andrie Yunus must be held accountable,” he said.
