Suspect's Face Captured on CCTV at Duri Station, Enabling Immediate Detection

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT KAI Commuter Indonesia (KCI) is responding to allegations of fraud experienced by content creator Chery Gus at Duri Station, West Jakarta, on Thursday (7/5/2026).

Vice President of Corporate Secretary at KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, stated that they have obtained information from the victim, including collecting photos of the perpetrator with the initials Sadam.

“After obtaining information from the victim, relevant personnel immediately inputted photos of the perpetrator into the CCTV Analytic system,” said Karina to Kompas.com via a short message on Saturday (16/5/2026).

If a match is detected, the system will immediately send a notification to field officers for action.

“This system is a facial recognition system for all Commuter Line users that has been entered into the system’s database, which will provide notifications if there is a match,” she explained.

KAI Commuter also stated that it is ready to assist the victim if the case proceeds to legal proceedings.

“We will support everything and provide assistance in the legal process later,” said Karina.

Chery claimed that he was resting at Duri Station after traveling from out of town when a man named Sadam approached him.

The man claimed to know him from social media content and offered free travel accommodation, eventually leading them to exchange phone numbers.

However, Sadam then asked the victim for money totaling Rp 1 million, which was given in stages.

“Every time I talk in the chat, he gives a code directly ‘Gopay Saddam Husein.’ So it’s like an order,” said Chery.

Despite experiencing this incident, Chery stated that he will continue to use public transportation but will be more careful in the future.
