Suspected Perpetrator in Bro Ron Assault Case Files Counter-Report, Claims He Was Attacked First

The case of the alleged assault involving Ronald A. Sinaga, or Bro Ron, the Deputy General Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), has entered a new phase. One of the suspected perpetrators has instead reported Bro Ron to the police on charges of assault. The suspected perpetrator, with the initial R, stated that he had filed a report with the Menteng Metro Police Sector. He claims to have been the victim of violence first in the incident. “On one hand, I have also reported him; I have reported Bro Ron for assault, for battery,” said R on Tuesday (5/5/2026), quoted from Kompas TV. R also said he had undergone a medical examination as part of the legal process he is pursuing. “And I have done the visum, that’s why today I was asked for a statement regarding the assault by Bro Ron,” he said. He mentioned that the situation had been mediated by the police before Bro Ron arrived at the location. “This matter had already been settled by the Menteng Police Sector, mediation, right? Suddenly Bro Ron came, he asked if there was any commotion with the building side. Then Bro Ron turned back and pointed at me,” explained R. R recounted that at that time, Bro Ron allegedly made inappropriate remarks, before physical contact occurred. “He immediately punched me like this, from here (demonstrating a punch to the stomach). He punched first. I said ‘Please, brother, just talk, brother doesn’t need to use hands, what did I do wrong?’ like that. Then he pulled here again (holding the back of his head),” he said. He also accused Bro Ron of making racist remarks towards him, which provoked his emotions. “I pushed him ‘Hey brother, why are you being racist? Why are you hitting?’” he said. “We were separated for a moment, I went downstairs, because I still couldn’t accept it, I hit him back. That was a retaliatory punch, not that I suddenly punched first. So because he punched first from the bottom of my heart, plus he verbally abused me,” R explained.
