Suspected of Suffering from Depression, Woman Detained in Front of Palace Referred to RSCM
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A woman with the initials JSLP (20), who was detained in front of the gate of Merdeka Palace in Gambir, is suspected of suffering from depression and has been referred to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) for mental health treatment.
The Head of the Women’s and Children’s Protection and Anti-Trafficking in Persons Unit (PPA and PPO) of the Central Jakarta Metro Police Resort, Kompol Rita Oktavia, stated that JSLP had undergone an examination before being referred to the hospital.
“Her condition is now healthy. We have taken her to the psychiatric department at RSCM,” Rita said when contacted on Tuesday (24/3/2026).
Rita explained that during the examination at the police station, officers found a mental health control book inside JSLP’s bag. This indicated a history of psychological disorders.
“She does have a history of mental health issues, possibly depression. The depression was too severe, affecting her mental state,” she said.
The police also limited questions to avoid worsening her psychological condition.
Additionally, the woman, who is known to be a resident of East Jakarta, repeatedly expressed her desire to end her life.
“Yesterday, we tried to communicate to get her parents’ phone number, but she refused. She only said she wanted to commit suicide,” Rita revealed.
The police have also communicated with the doctor who previously treated JSLP and were advised to refer her back to the hospital immediately.
“She has been treated at RSCM before. We have also spoken with her doctor to take her there as soon as possible,” she said.
When detained, officers also found a two-metre white rope that was suspected to be intended for suicide.
“She had previously reported to the PPA unit regarding sexual harassment. However, the case was dropped because the perpetrator had taken responsibility by marrying her,” Rita said.
