An Indonesian Migrant Worker (PMI) with the initials Putu JW has reportedly been arrested by authorities in Florida, United States (US). The man from Jembrana, Bali, is suspected of involvement in a sexual violence case that has gone viral on social media. The Head of the Manpower and Industry Office of Jembrana, Kadek Mirah Ananta Sukma Dewi, confirmed the information regarding a resident of Jembrana caught in a legal case in the US. The Jembrana Regency Government (Pemkab) is also monitoring the developments of the case. “There is indeed information from the media, (the incident) in the Florida area. But we have not yet communicated with the PMI in question and the family has also not been able to communicate. We are still coordinating with the Head of BP3MI Bali,” Mirah stated when confirmed by detikBali on Thursday (9/4/2026). Mirah explained that her side is continuously monitoring the case developments through the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in the US. So far, she claims to only follow the case’s progress through reports in local Florida media. “For now, we cannot provide a detailed chronology,” she added. Pemkab Jembrana, she said, is coordinating with BP2MI and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This step is taken to provide legal assistance and ensure that Putu JW receives his rights during the ongoing legal process. “This assistance effort also aims to seek balanced information as a basis for submitting a request for legal protection for the individual,” she concluded.
