Suspected of Causing Rp 50 Billion Loss Over 15 Years, Why Was Blok M's Parking Area Only Sealed Now?

Jakarta - The Chairman of the Special Committee on Parking of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ahmad Lukman Jupiter, revealed the reasons behind the sealing of the Blok M new parking gate, which occurred now despite the operator Best Parking having managed the area since 2011, or about 15 years ago.

According to Jupiter, enforcement action could only be taken after the Special Committee on Parking of the DKI Jakarta DPRD was established through a political decision in the DPRD. He stated that the formation of the previous committee had been hindered by political dynamics in the parliament.

“So, firstly, it has been operating since 2011. Secondly, I became a member of the Council in 2019. Well, this special committee is a decision resulting from a political agreement,” said Jupiter when confirmed by Kompas.com via telephone on Tuesday (12/5/2026).

However, in the early period of his tenure as a council member in 2019, Nasdem had not yet secured a leadership position in the DPRD, so the proposal to form the special committee could not be realised.

“In 2019, Nasdem had not yet obtained a leadership position in the Council. So this was also a factor why we could not propose the special committee,” he said.

It is known that the Nasdem Faction now occupies one of the DPRD DKI Jakarta leadership seats as deputy chairman of the council.

Jupiter said that the special committee on parking governance was finally approved through a joint leadership meeting and a political decision of the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

“And the special committee on parking governance, as well as the previous parking special committee, was indeed initiated by the Nasdem Party in the Jakarta DPRD. And Alhamdulillah, through the joint leadership meeting, it was then approved, and through deliberation and political decision, well, we are working,” he said.

He mentioned that the first special committee began operating in 2025 during his second term as a member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

According to him, the special committee was proposed again because there were still many unresolved issues in parking management.

“In short, this second special committee was still initiated and proposed by the Nasdem Faction, because we believe there are still many unresolved issues regarding parking management in Jakarta,” said Jupiter.

The complaints relate to the parking operator’s obligation, which is suspected of not depositing regional revenues according to the actual turnover.
