Police have arrested a man with the initials KM who carried out random stabbings in Tangerang City. The suspect has now been transferred to the National Police Hospital (RS Polri) Kramat Jati in East Jakarta.

The decision was taken after police received information suggesting the suspect may suffer from a mental disorder. A team of doctors will carry out an observation of the suspect to establish the motive behind the stabbings.

“Based on statements from his family, this suspect has been difficult to engage in communication for six years,” said the Head of Jatiuwung Police Station, Commissioner Kresna Ajie Perkasa, when contacted on Sunday (12/7/2026).

“The suspect is currently being transferred to undergo observation at RS Polri Kramat Jati,” he said.

Kresna explained that the suspect’s motive is not yet known. Police are still awaiting the results of the medical observation.

“We cannot yet give an answer regarding the motive. We are still waiting for the doctors’ results to determine the suspect’s actual condition,” he said.

Stabbings at Five Locations

Police revealed that there were five locations targeted by the suspect. All five locations are in Tangerang City.

“The scenes of the incidents were on Jalan Rusa and Jalan Tampak Siring in Perumnas 2, Karawaci; Jalan Sawo and Jalan Bawang in Perumnas 1, Cibodasari; and Jalan Singkarak in Perumnas 3, Kelapa Dua District,” said the Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, in a statement on Sunday (12/7).

Police are still investigating the suspect’s connection to the five stabbing incidents. Officers are continuing to trace the possibility of other victims.
