A loud explosion shook the Cimuning area in Bekasi City on Wednesday (1/4) night. The blast was accompanied by tall flames and thick black smoke visible from afar.

A resident of Bekasi Timur Regency (BTR), Catur Prima Sari, stated that the source of the explosion was suspected to come from the Bulk LPG Filling Station (SPBE) facility, located not far from the Bekasi Timur Regency housing complex on Cinyosog Street, Cimuning, Mustika Jaya, Bekasi City.

“The sound was very loud, and a large fire was visible from the direction of the SPBE near the BTR housing,” said Catur.

Another resident, Nur Estiningtyas, mentioned that the fire had not yet been extinguished as of now. She also claimed to still hear several follow-up explosions from her home, which is not far from the incident site.

“The fire is still large, not yet out. There were also sounds of follow-up explosions earlier,” she said.

Bekasi City firefighters are still struggling at the location to control the flames. Several fire engine units have been deployed to carry out the extinguishing efforts.

In addition, several ambulances were seen entering and exiting the incident area. As of now, information is circulating about fatalities in the incident. However, there has been no official statement from the authorities regarding the number or identities of the victims.

Residents have also been advised not to engage in excessive purchasing (panic buying) to ensure that gas distribution remains stable and even across all regions.
