Suspected Drug Involvement: Robig, Shooter of Gamma, Transferred to Nusakambangan
Convicted in the shooting case of SMKN 4 Semarang student Gamma (17), Robig Zaenuddin has been transferred to Nusakambangan Prison after being suspected of involvement in drug distribution and testing positive in a urine test.
The transfer was carried out following findings from an inspection by the Central Java Police Narcotics Directorate of Criminal Investigation alongside Semarang Prison authorities in January 2026.
“Then, during that examination, Robig was found to be in an unstable condition or in a precarious position,” said the Head of Public Relations of Central Java Police, Commissioner Artanto, at the Central Java Police Headquarters in Semarang Selatan District, Friday (24/4), as reported by detikJateng.
That condition aroused suspicion among officers, who then examined Robig’s belongings and conducted a urine test. The result declared Robig positive for drugs.
“And it was found that Robig was positive for drugs. That became a separate note for Robig by the prison authorities,” Artanto said.
Central Java Police are still delving into Robig’s role in this case, including whether he acted as a user or was involved in drug distribution inside the prison. The source of the drugs allegedly obtained while in custody is also under investigation.
“Well, whether the individual acted as a dealer or user, this is being thoroughly examined. We are awaiting the investigation results,” he said.
Artanto also confirmed that Robig had been dismissed from the National Police through the Dishonourable Discharge mechanism since 18 February 2026. That decision was taken because he was deemed not to have carried out his duties professionally, including in relation to the shooting case that killed Gamma.
Meanwhile, the Head of Class I Semarang Prison, Ahmad Tohari, stated that Robig’s transfer was part of security measures following public reports regarding alleged drug control from within the prison.
“Previously, Class I Semarang Prison received several complaints from the public regarding allegations of drug control outside the prison by one of the inmates named Robig Zaenuddin,” Ahmad said in his statement on Thursday (23/4).
He explained that a total of 40 inmates were transferred to Nusakambangan, respectively to Gladakan Prison and Nirbaya Prison. Robig was included in the group transferred to Gladakan Prison.
On the other hand, the legal representative of Gamma’s family, Zainal Petir, claimed to have suspected drug use by Robig since the beginning of the shooting case. He assessed that there were irregularities in the CCTV footage at the time of the incident.
“I have been suspicious from the start, there was something not right,” Zainal said.
He also urged the police to thoroughly investigate the alleged involvement of Robig in the drug distribution network, including the possible connection to the shooting incident that killed his client.
The case was previously claimed to be an act of law enforcement against brawl perpetrators. However, further investigation results and CCTV recording evidence showed discrepancies with the initial statements.
