Suspected cause of Transjakarta accident on Gunung Sahari revealed

Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) has said that the accident between operator fleet unit SAF-083 (Route 10H) and a motorcycle at the Gunung Sahari-Mangga Besar junction on Tuesday morning was suspected to have been caused by the motorcyclist turning suddenly.

“At the time of the incident, the bus was travelling on a green light, but contact occurred with a motorcyclist who allegedly turned suddenly in the yellow box area,” said Transjakarta’s Head of Public Relations and CSR Department, Ayu Wardhani, in Jakarta on Tuesday.

She said the motorcyclist had been evacuated and was currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, all bus passengers were evacuated to another bus.

Transjakarta, Ayu continued, was coordinating with the police and cooperating fully with the investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.

“CCTV footage has also been handed over,” Ayu said.

She urged all road users to always obey traffic signs for the sake of collective safety.

Earlier, a video had circulated on social media showing the traffic accident between a bus and a motorcyclist on Jalan Gunung Sahari, Central Jakarta.

In the video, a motorcyclist wearing the jacket and helmet of a ride-hailing transport company could be seen having fallen and lying face down on the road.
