JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Head of Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Pol Iman Imanudin, suspects that one of the perpetrators in the acid attack on KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus was also hit by the splashed liquid.

He stated that in the CCTV footage, the perpetrator is seen pulling the motorbike used to the side of Jalan Diponegoro. The perpetrator, wearing a red T-shirt, appears to splash mineral water on his body.

“It is suspected that the liquid hit part of the perpetrator’s body, so both of them tried to clean it with mineral water, this is visible in the CCTV video,” said Iman during a press conference at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

Before the incident, the perpetrator was known to be wearing a red T-shirt under the shirt.

Iman added that, besides hitting the perpetrator’s body, the acid liquid also splashed onto the helmet he was wearing. That helmet was later found not far from the scene.

“After the incident, the perpetrator was already wearing the inner T-shirt because the outer one was suspected to have been hit by the liquid along with the helmet,” Iman explained.

Previously reported, KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus was splashed with acid by unidentified persons (OTK) on Thursday night (12/3/2026).

KontraS Working Body Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya said the incident occurred at 23:37 WIB when Andrie Yunus was riding a motorbike on Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Senen, Central Jakarta.

The first perpetrator, acting as the rider, was wearing a white-blue combination T-shirt, dark trousers suspected to be jeans material, and a black helmet.

Meanwhile, the second perpetrator sitting at the back was wearing a face covering or mask resembling a black buff that covered half of his face, a dark blue T-shirt, and long blue trousers folded short, suspected to be jeans material.

One of the perpetrators then splashed acid towards the victim, hitting parts of the victim’s body.

Andrie suffered burns on his right and left hands, face, chest, and eyes.
