Suspect Taufik Hidayat Fled to Tangerang Before Arrest

West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar) have detailed the escape route of Taufik Hidayat, the suspect in the abuse and confinement case against victim Yuvita Tri Rezeki, which resulted in her blindness. According to authorities, Taufik initially fled to Tangerang but, haunted by constant fear, chose to return to Bandung.

West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan explained that the suspect moved to Tangerang after the case of abuse and confinement of his girlfriend Yuvita went viral on social media. However, while there, the suspect felt unsafe and moved back to Bandung.

‘The story of his escape was just recounted; the individual had moved to Tangerang. He felt that Tangerang was a safe place, but there he was also confused and felt unsafe, and returned again to West Java,’ Rudi stated in Bandung, West Java Province, on Tuesday (23/6/2026).

According to him, during his flight, the suspect also felt afraid and suspicious of everyone. Additionally, the suspect was confused about where to go until he finally returned to Majalaya, where he was subsequently arrested by officers.

‘We also asked him, and the individual admitted to feeling afraid, suspicious of everyone, and not knowing where to go, and finally ended up in Majalaya and was caught,’ Rudi said.

He explained that investigators have not yet found any parties suspected of hiding the suspect. Rudi stated that the suspect fled alone while being hunted by authorities.

Upon returning to Majalaya, he continued, the suspect stayed at the Griya Pesona housing complex, which is a relative’s home. Meanwhile, the police had already tracked the suspect’s whereabouts.

‘Based on his confession, the house in Griya Pesona was a relative’s house. He believed that it was a safe place according to the suspect,’ Rudi stated.

After conducting surveillance, investigators found Taufik was already in Majalaya. After monitoring the suspect making several transactions, the police successfully arrested the perpetrator at a predetermined moment.
