Suspect in Stamp Counterfeiting Case Dies by Suicide in Depok Apartment

A suspect in a stamp counterfeiting case, identified by the initials AB (36), has died by suicide at an apartment in Depok, West Java. The victim jumped and fell from the seventh floor. “(The suspect) died by suicide at Apartment S. We have conducted an investigation. It was indeed a pure suicide. (The victim) AB was 36 years old,” said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Depok Metro Police, AKBP Made Gede Oka Utama, to reporters at the Depok Metro Police headquarters on Tuesday. The body was discovered at the apartment on Friday (26/6). The victim fell from the seventh floor, sustaining severe head injuries. “(The injury) was to the head, from falling from the seventh floor directly to the basement car park,” he stated. Made explained that the victim was a suspect in a stamp counterfeiting case and was on the wanted list. The victim is believed to have taken his own life out of fear after being named a suspect. “Because the victim was afraid, knowing that he was indeed a suspect, a wanted person. At the time of the incident, he was being sought by investigators,” Made revealed. Police also found evidence of counterfeit stamps in the victim’s room. The stamp counterfeiting case itself is being handled by investigators from the Metro Jaya Regional Police. “There was a discovery of counterfeit stamps. We will investigate further, but this is not the Depok Police’s case; the Regional Police are handling the stamp counterfeiting case,” he explained. The victim’s body has now been handed over to the family, who have accepted the incident as a suicide.
