Suspect in Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus Allegedly a TNI BAIS Member, Commission III: No Room for Loopholes
The perpetrator of the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus is suspected to involve a TNI BAIS member. Commission III DPR RI leader Habiburokhman has requested that the Metro Jaya Police handle the case administration carefully. There should be no legal loopholes that the perpetrators can exploit.
“We entrust the administration and procedures to be carried out neatly and properly. Things like the SPDP letter and so on should be perfected, with no gaps at all for the perpetrators to counter legally,” said Habiburokhman during a press conference on Wednesday (18/3).
According to Habiburokhman, the completeness of administration such as the preparation of the investigation commencement order or SPDP is crucial. If the investigation is not conducted carefully, there will be legal gaps that the perpetrators can exploit during the trial process.
He also appreciated the Metro Jaya Police’s efforts in investigating the acid attack case.
“Of course, we support continuing this work well,” he stated.
According to him, Propam is working professionally in investigating this case. Commission III DPR RI, he said, will continue to monitor the handling of the Andrie Yunus acid attack case.
Andrie Yunus became a victim of an acid attack on Thursday (12/3) in the Matraman area, Central Jakarta. He is still being treated at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital or RSCM Jakarta with 20% burns.
From the four suspected perpetrators, the police have identified the identities of the perpetrators with initials BHC and MAK. The TNI BAIS member suspected of the acid attack is now detained at the Pomdam Jaya detention centre.
