Suspect admits to stabbing dental clinic nurse in Tangerang after bringing knife from home

TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com - Police stated that the suspect who stabbed a dental clinic nurse in the Total Persada housing area of Periuk, Tangerang City, admitted to the act during questioning.

Jatiuwung Police Station Chief Kompol Rabiin said the suspect, identified as MA, confessed to bringing a knife from home and using it to stab the victim.

“He essentially admitted it: ‘I admit, I stabbed, I brought a knife from home,’” Rabiin told Kompas.com via WhatsApp on Monday (1 June 2026).

Rabiin added that investigators faced difficulties in questioning the suspect, as he frequently remained silent during interrogation, prompting police to proceed cautiously in drawing conclusions.

The incident began when MA, a new patient, visited the clinic for a dental scaling procedure on Saturday (30 May 2026). Clinic staff confirmed the suspect had no prior history or relationship with the facility.

After the dental scaling was completed, the suspect was attended to by a nurse. Shortly after, MA entered the bathroom and called out, “Miss, come here, Miss.” The nurse approached, and was immediately stabbed in the bathroom, Rabiin said.

The victim is currently receiving treatment at Tangerang Regency General Hospital. Police arrested MA on the same day as the incident, but investigators are still determining the motive.

“We are still investigating whether it was due to anger, pain during treatment, or other reasons,” he added.
