Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's administration is prioritizing the eradication of corruption in its first 100-day program. In this context, the first thing to do must be to put law-enforcement agencies -- the prosecutors, the judges and the police -- in order, to ensure they are corruption-free.
The Attorney General took a promising step when he subjected all his workers to an examination. To ensure transparency, however, the job should be left to external institutions like the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) or the relevant non- governmental organizations.
