Suryamas pays dividends

JAKARTA (JP): Suryamas Dutamakmur, a property company listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange, will contribute around 20 percent of its 1995 profits as dividends.

The company announced yesterday that the dividends to be paid to its shareholders will be Rp 13, or around 0.6 U.S. cents.

Suryamas's net profits increased sharply to Rp 48.3 billion last year from Rp 5.8 billion in 1994, partly due to a significant increase in the sales of its housing units.

In its annual meeting, held on Thursday, shareholders also approved the management's proposal to set aside a portion of the company's net profits to help fight poverty in the country in an effort to meet President Soeharto's appeal.

The appeal was addressed to individuals and business entities with annual net earnings of Rp 100 million or more to contribute up to 2 percent of their net profits for poverty alleviation.(hen)
