Suryacipta Targets Investment Expansion in Subang
Jakarta — Industrial estate managers continue to see opportunities for manufacturing investment growth in Indonesia, particularly in West Java, which has traditionally been a primary destination for foreign direct investment.
PT Suryacipta Swadaya, a subsidiary of PT Surya Semesta Internusa Tbk (SSIA), believes the industrial ecosystem in West Java is relatively mature and remains attractive to foreign investors seeking to expand across Southeast Asia.
General Manager of Sales & Tenant Relations at Suryacipta, Binawati Dewi, said foreign investor interest remains evident in several business meetings conducted by the company with prospective investors in Hong Kong in early March. “Investors still view Indonesia as one of the production bases in the region,” she said in a press statement over the weekend.
However, investment interest is now shifting towards higher-value-added manufacturing sectors that require infrastructure support and operational certainty.
According to Dewi, this trend is reflected in the occupancy rates of industrial estates managed by the company. Suryacipta City of Industry in Karawang has reached near maturity with less than 10 hectares of industrial land remaining.
Going forward, Suryacipta is pinning growth hopes on the development of a new estate, Subang Smartpolitan. The area is beginning to attract investor interest, particularly from South Korea, China, and domestic companies undertaking factory expansion or relocation.
According to Dewi, the presence of infrastructure projects along West Java’s northern corridor, such as the Patimban Access Toll Road and the development of Patimban Port, which is targeted to operate at full capacity by the end of 2026, is expected to strengthen connectivity of industrial estates in the region.
However, industrial estate operators also acknowledge that investment attractiveness is not solely determined by infrastructure. Regulatory certainty, stability of industrial policy, and manufacturing cost competitiveness remain the primary factors investors consider before deciding on manufacturing expansion in Indonesia.
