Surya Paloh Warns Government: It's Dangerous If You No Longer Accept Correction

NasDem Party Chairman Surya Paloh has highlighted various current government policies. Paloh believes the government is still on the right track as long as it remains willing to accept correction. Paloh initially spoke about NasDem’s position regarding government policy. He stressed that NasDem is in a position where it must remain loyal. “The first thing I said, indeed that is all government policy, where the NasDem Party is part of the coalition, so it must be loyal there,” Paloh told reporters at the Mercure Hotel in Ancol, North Jakarta, on Wednesday (22/7/2026). Paloh revealed he has a number of thoughts and corrections he wishes to convey to the government. However, he prefers to deliver them personally. “There are thoughts that perhaps we need to contribute, which may not all be entirely appropriate and correct with what is happening as we understand it,” said Paloh. “But I think that is not for public consumption for the time being. I prefer to place my ideas, thoughts, suggestions, and views on a person-to-person basis to make corrections if necessary,” he continued. Furthermore, Paloh assessed that the government is still on the right track if it is willing to listen to criticism or input. Conversely, the situation will become dire if the government is no longer open to correction. “Whatever it is, I think I still hold hope as long as corrections are continuously made. We are moving in the direction of being on the right track. However, if we no longer want to be corrected and do not want any improvement, that is when it becomes dangerous,” said Paloh.
