Surya Paloh Targets NasDem Vote Increase in 2029 Election, Warns of Challenges

NasDem Party Chairman Surya Paloh expressed gratitude that his party has continued to experience an increase in votes from one general election to the next. He has set a target for NasDem’s vote share to be even higher in the 2029 General Election.

Speaking at a Garda Pemuda NasDem event at the Mercure Hotel Ancol in North Jakarta on Wednesday (22/7/2026), Paloh said, ‘This nation is moving, constantly moving through various dynamics from one election result to the next. Through three general elections that we have participated in as a political party institution, NasDem has still been given the opportunity by the Almighty; nature is still on our side. From the first process, the first election, the second, and the third, we have experienced an increase.’

Paloh expressed gratitude for NasDem’s achievements and requested that the party’s vote count be even higher in the 2029 election. ‘God willing, in the upcoming 2029 General Election, we will hopefully climb to an even greater increase,’ he said.

Paloh entrusted this target to his ranks, especially the young NasDem cadres, and asked them to start taking a stance. ‘This is where I place my hope as the Chairman of the NasDem Party. The Garda Pemuda must truly prepare themselves, carry out total consolidation, and be on the front line. The eyes and ears of the NasDem party are the Garda Pemuda itself,’ he stated.

He also acknowledged that every party, including NasDem, will experience ebbs and flows. He warned of trials that may come from both inside and outside the party. ‘We will experience, like all political party institutions, the ebbs and flows that we will face. Trials may come from outside, they may also come from within. That is the reality of this life,’ he said.
