Jakarta, VIVA – The General Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, revealed President Prabowo Subianto’s position regarding Indonesia’s membership of the Board of Peace (BoP) or the Council of Peace. He said that, to date, Indonesia remains a member of the Board of Peace and continues to advocate for Palestine’s independence. This was conveyed by Paloh after attending a meeting between President Prabowo and former presidents and vice-presidents, as well as the chairmen of political parties, at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday night, 3 March 2026.

“To date, perhaps, we are still in that position (Indonesia as a member of the Board of Peace),” Paloh told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.

Nevertheless, Paloh noted that the stance of the leadership and his government could change according to developments in the future. “Unless there are developments with several other countries later, we will reevaluate the meaning of Indonesia’s engagement in the BoP with those other countries,” he said.

In that meeting, Paloh said Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s stance of maintaining an independent and proactive foreign policy as well as the solidarity and empathy for the Palestinian people described earlier.

“That we reaffirm how to maintain our independent and proactive foreign policy, and the great sympathy and empathy for the Palestinian people’s struggle was reaffirmed,” Paloh concluded.
