Surya Paloh calls for strengthening national character to realise a more robust Indonesia

National figure Surya Paloh has called on all elements of society to continue strengthening national character and safeguarding a healthy democracy in order to realise a stronger Indonesia in the future. “I believe we all share the same goal, which is to see Indonesia become a more advanced and stronger nation,” Surya Paloh said at the launch of the book ‘Menelusuri Jejak Pengabdian dan Lahirnya Suryapalohisme’ in Medan on Friday evening. The Chairman of the Nasdem Party stated that Indonesia, with its natural wealth, strategic geographical location, long coastline, fertile land, and large population, must be utilised effectively to achieve a more advanced and prosperous nation. According to him, human resources and a change in the nation’s mentality are the keys to progress that must be built together to realise these ideals. “I believe Indonesia will become a stronger and more advanced nation if all elements of society join hands to strengthen national character within a democracy,” he said. Surya Paloh expressed his appreciation for the book launch, which was presented as a gift for his 75th birthday. The author, Iskandar ST, explained that Suryapalohisme is not a new ideology to replace the national ideology, but rather a value framework resting on four pillars: value restoration, inclusive nationalism, moral integrity, and justice-oriented idealism. Iskandar emphasised that the concept is a reflection of the struggle and dedication Surya Paloh has demonstrated through real action.
