The need for competent human resources is a key factor in supporting the development of the national mining industry amid the push for mineral and energy downstream processing. Strengthening HR capacity is considered necessary to address challenges in governance, regulatory compliance, and the implementation of sustainable mining practices.

The mineral and energy sector remains a driver of Indonesia’s economic growth. Beyond encouraging investment and job creation, the downstream processing of mineral and energy commodities is expected to enhance added value and national industrial competitiveness.

However, the mining industry still faces several challenges, ranging from licensing and oversight to regulatory compliance and improving human resource quality. Global market demands for responsible and transparent mining practices also necessitate stronger sector governance.

To support the development of mining human resource competencies, the Centre for Human Resources Development in Geology, Minerals, and Coal (PPSDM Geominerba) has established a partnership with PT Surveyor Indonesia (Persero). The collaboration was formalised through the signing of a memorandum of understanding on HR competency development and mining technical assistance.

The partnership includes the development of technical competency enhancement programmes, strengthening of operational and administrative management, and the utilisation of technology and digitalisation to support mining activities.

PT Surveyor Indonesia’s Director of Commerce and Operations, Euis Emalia Noor, stated that the collaboration is a step towards strengthening HR capacity and mining sector governance. “PT Surveyor Indonesia is committed to delivering services that not only focus on testing, inspection, and certification but also drive competency improvement and governance strengthening in the mining sector. Through this synergy with PPSDM Geominerba, we hope to contribute to creating a more professional, competitive, and sustainable mining ecosystem,” she said in a press release on Tuesday (23/6/2026).

The signing of the memorandum of understanding took place in Jakarta and was attended by Head of PPSDM Geominerba Bayu Nugroho, Expert Instructor Abdul Majid, Director of Commerce and Operations Euis Emalia Noor, Vice President of DBS Coal and Mineral Helmy Satria Yudha, and the management team of PT Surveyor Indonesia.

Through this partnership, both parties will develop various programmes to support HR competency improvement and strengthen governance in the management of mineral and energy commodities. The collaboration is expected to enhance the quality of mining services, reinforce governance in the mineral and energy sector, and promote the use of technology and innovation in national mining activities.
