Survey Reveals Decline in Public Satisfaction with Prabowo; Government to Conduct Evaluation
The Head of the Government Communication Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (Bakom RI), Muhammad Qodari, has addressed the results of a survey conducted by Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC). According to the SMRC survey, there has been a decline in public satisfaction regarding the performance of President Prabowo Subianto.
Qodari stated that the government respects all survey results produced by independent institutions. He emphasised that the government views these findings as essential input for formulating policy. “Yes, of course, we continue to conduct evaluations. And that is indeed what the President is doing,” Qodari said on Saturday, 1 August 2026.
The government considers all survey results to be part of the democratic mechanism. He noted that the government will undertake evaluations to address the feedback provided by the public. “However, there are various types of evaluation. First, governance evaluation. Second, legal evaluation. Third, public opinion evaluation,” Qodari explained.
Qodari added that the government never believes the public lacks the right to assess the President’s performance. “In a democracy, public opinion surveys are important input. We have never said that the public does not have the right to judge. They are very much entitled to do so. Especially since I have spent many years in the world of surveys,” he clarified.
It is noted that in the survey conducted between 5–19 July 2026, the SMRC recorded that the level of public satisfaction with Prabowo’s performance has decreased compared to the previous year. During that period, the public satisfaction level for Prabowo stood at 51.1 per cent, a significant drop from 81.2 per cent recorded in November 2025.
