Jakarta (ANTARA) - The results of the 2025 Inter-Census Population Survey (Supas) indicate that the population of DKI Jakarta is dominated by the millennial generation, born between 1981 and 1996, accounting for 24.82%.”Millennials (born 1981-1996) contribute 24.82% to the total population of DKI Jakarta (10.72 million),” said the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) for DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, in a podcast monitored in Jakarta on Wednesday.The next generation contributing to the capital’s population is Generation Z (born 1997-2012), contributing 24.12%, followed by Generation X (born 1965-1980) with a contribution of 21.85%.Subsequently, post-Generation Z or those born in 2013 and later contribute 17.78% to Jakarta’s population, followed by boomers (1946-1964) with 10.72%, and pre-boomers (born before 1945) contributing 0.71%.”Overall, around 66.72% of DKI Jakarta’s population consists of Generation Z, millennials, and post-Generation Z,” said Kadarmanto.The 2025 Supas results also show that Jakarta’s population is experiencing positive but slowing growth at a rate of 0.32% per year over the last five years.The population of Jakarta based on the 2025 Supas results is 10,724,330 souls, an increase of 162,240 souls compared to the 2020 Population Census (SP2020) and an increase of 1,116,540 souls compared to the 2010 Population Census (SP2010).Meanwhile, based on the sex ratio, the number of male residents in Jakarta is 5,371,390 souls or 50.09% of the total population, while the number of female residents is 5,352,940 souls or 49.91% of the total population.Based on this gender composition, the sex ratio in Jakarta is recorded at 100, meaning there are approximately 100 males for every 100 females in Jakarta.
