Survey: 83.7 Per Cent of Public Satisfied with Pertamina's Performance
The strategic research institution Citra Nasional Network (CNN) has released the results of a national survey regarding public perception of energy security and the services provided by PT Pertamina (Persero). The results show that the majority of the public holds a high appreciation for Pertamina’s performance, particularly in maintaining the stability of energy distribution, petrol station services, and digital transformation through the MyPertability application.
The survey, conducted between 4–17 April 2026, recorded a public satisfaction level regarding Pertamina’s operational services and communication at 83.7 per cent. This figure is seen as reflecting the company’s success in maintaining the national energy supply amidst global economic pressures and international geopolitical dynamics.
The national survey involved 1,580 respondents who are active users of Bio Solar, Pertalite, and 3kg LPG across Indonesia. The sampling was conducted using a multistage random sampling method with a 95 per cent confidence level and a margin of error of approximately 2.47 per cent.
The President Director of Citra Nasional Network, Muhammad Sutisna, stated that high public trust indicates that the community still views Pertamina as a strategic institution capable of maintaining national energy stability. “This high level of public trust shows that the community assesses Pertamina as being able to maintain the stability of national energy distribution sustainably,” Sutisna said in a press release on Monday (18/5/2026).
Sutisna explained the public’s energy consumption patterns based on the survey results. Approximately 67.2 per cent of respondents reported using Pertamina fuel every day, while 29.1 per cent use fuel every three days, and 3.7 per cent access fuel more than once every three days. Furthermore, 79.7 per cent of respondents obtain fuel from Pertamina’s network of petrol stations, while 20.3 per cent obtain it from retailers and private fuel providers.
In the 3kg LPG sector, the survey showed that the majority of the public still obtains subsidised gas through local kiosks and shops. Specifically, 67.7 per cent of respondents obtain 3kg LPG through these channels, while 2int 7.4 per cent purchase it at official distribution bases.
Beyond operational services, digitalisation also received significant attention in the survey. Approximately 85.2 per cent of respondents expressed support for the use of the MyPertamina application for purchasing subsidised fuel, such as Pertalite and Bio Solar, to ensure that subsidies are more accurately targeted. According to Sutisna, Pertamina’s digital transformation is beginning to build a positive perception among the public, supported by the management of a national energy user database that is increasingly precise.
The survey also noted that public satisfaction with the stability of fuel and LPG distribution reached 83.6 per cent, with respondents noting Pertamina’s ability to maintain energy supplies even to remote areas. Regarding digital transparency, 78.2 per cent of respondents felt that the energy distribution data system is now more organised and measurable than before.
Additionally, the public expressed appreciation for Pertamina’s policy of maintaining subsidised fuel prices despite rising global energy prices. Approximately 81.2 per cent of respondents expressed satisfaction with the policy to hold Pertalite and Bio Solar prices steady. The quality of service at Pertamina petrol stations also received positive ratings, with satisfaction regarding station services reaching 87.1 per cent and satisfaction with the performance of station operators at 88.3 per cent.
However, the survey also identified ongoing challenges in energy access. Approximately 67.4 per cent of respondents reported difficulties in obtaining fuel and 3kg LPG, particularly outside of Java. For regions outside Java, 67.3 per cent of respondents stated that fuel and 3kg LPG distribution remains slow and difficult to obtain, whereas in Java, 82.3 per cent reported that these energy commodities are relatively easier to access, despite occasional distribution delays.
Sutisna noted that the public currently views Pertamina as an increasingly modern, responsive, and transparent energy company in fulfilling its national energy security mandate. “Overall, the public feels that Pertamina is striving to balance the impact of rising global prices on the domestic economy through subsidies, while following market mechanisms for non-subsidised products,” said Sutisna. He added that the policy of maintaining subsidised fuel and 3kg LPG prices has successfully helped maintain public purchasing power and national economic stability.
