Jakarta, VIVA – Results of a survey released by Indikator Politik Indonesia indicate a high level of public satisfaction with the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026, particularly in efforts to curb road traffic accident rates during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return period.

Executive Director of Indikator, Burhanuddin Muhtadi, in a release on Tuesday, 7 April, revealed that around 79.8 percent of respondents felt satisfied because this year’s homecoming organisation was deemed better than the previous year, especially in reducing accident numbers.

In line with the survey results, data from Korlantas Polri records a significant decline in road traffic accidents during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return period in 2026, which took place from 13 to 29 March 2026. The number of accidents was recorded to have dropped by around 5.75 percent to 6.31 percent, or to 3,517 cases nationwide.

Even more encouraging, the fatality rate or number of deaths experienced a drastic decline of up to 30.89 percent to 31.19 percent. In addition, victims of serious injuries also decreased by 13.8 percent.

This success is inseparable from various strategies implemented, including traffic engineering such as one-way and contraflow systems, increased field supervision, optimisation of public transport usage which reached 147.55 million homecomers, as well as the application of work-from-anywhere (WFA) policies.

Nevertheless, accidents involving motorcyclists still dominate, especially on arterial routes, thus becoming a focus for future evaluation.

Head of Korlantas Polri, Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, expressed the highest appreciation to all stakeholders who have collaborated in the success of Operation Ketupat 2026.

“This success is the result of hard work and synergy from all parties, including Polri, related ministries/institutions, local governments, and the community. We express our thanks for the support and active participation of all stakeholders,” said Agus.

He also conveyed appreciation and thanks to General Listyo Sigit Prabowo as the National Police Chief for the guidance, support, and direct involvement in securing the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return traffic this year.

“Due to the instructions and guidance from the National Police Chief, as well as his direct presence in the field, the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026 could run optimally and yield significant results in curbing accident numbers and victim fatalities,” he stated.

This data is an initial report compiled by Korlantas Polri together with Jasa Raharja during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return period in 2026, which also serves as an important note in efforts to realise sustainable Traffic Security, Safety, Order, and Smoothness (Kamseltibcarlantas) in Indonesia.
