Public dissatisfaction in the United States towards President Donald Trump remains at a high level. The latest survey from the University of Massachusetts Amherst shows that 64 per cent of US citizens disapprove of Trump’s performance as president.

The poll, conducted between 21 and 26 August, involved 1,000 adult respondents in the United States. Participants were questioned regarding the performance of the Trump administration, the handling of the war with Iran, and economic policies, including inflation.

The survey results show that only 32 per cent of respondents expressed satisfaction with Trump’s performance. Conversely, 64 per cent expressed dissatisfaction, while the remaining three per cent were undecided.

These figures indicate that dissatisfaction with Trump has increased compared to a similar survey conducted by the University of Massachusetts Amherst in March. At that time, 62 per cent of respondents expressed dissatisfaction with Trump’s performance, as reported by Anadolu on Tuesday (1/9/2026).

Iran War Under Scrutiny

One of the issues receiving the most scrutiny in the survey is Trump’s policy towards Iran. A majority of respondents showed a negative stance towards United States military actions in the conflict.

Only 26 per cent of respondents stated they supported US attacks against Iran. In contrast, 54 per cent expressed disagreement.

When asked whether the decision to attack Iran was a mistake, 55 per cent of respondents agreed. Only 27 per cent assessed the attack as not being a mistake.

Public assessment of Trump’s management of the war with Iran also tended to be negative. Only 25 per cent of respondents felt that Trump handled the war well.

On the contrary, 68 per cent of respondents stated that Trump’s handling of the Iran conflict was either “not very good” or “not good at all.”

Negative sentiment towards the Trump administration’s Iran policy was already evident in previous surveys. In March, 63 per cent of respondents expressed disapproval of Trump’s approach to Iran.

The latest data shows that this dissatisfaction persists, even after Washington’s policy towards Tehran entered a more aggressive phase.
