Surveillance of Illegal Quarrying in Temanggung Intensified
The Temanggung Police Resort in Central Java has taken the initiative to intensify surveillance of illegal Class C quarrying activities in the region, particularly in Kwadungan Jurang Village, Kledung District. This follows the closure of three illegal mining sites days earlier.
The Kledung Sub-Sector Police Chief, Iptu Tumijo, disclosed that based on monitoring, his team had identified several Class C quarrying locations suspected of operating without proper licensing documentation.
“Our officers have conducted data collection and taken both repressive and preventive measures against business operators to immediately cease their activities,” he told reporters on Saturday (28 February).
The Class C quarrying surveillance, he stated, is being conducted as an enforcement effort. This also serves to protect environmental conservation from damage caused by unlicensed mining activities.
“Any mining activity without official permits will be subject to strict action. Besides being illegal, this practice has the potential to cause natural disasters, damage roads, and endanger public safety,” he concluded.
The Temanggung District Government in Central Java, together with the Indonesian Military and National Police, closed three locations of illegal Class C quarrying operations in Banguntapan Hamlet, Kwadungan Jurang Village, located in Leles and Banyuresmi Districts.
The crackdown represents a significant enforcement action aimed at combating unauthorised mining operations that threaten both environmental sustainability and community welfare in the region.
