Surprising: Iranian Oil Exports Reported to Surge Amid War
Despite facing military aggression from the United States and Israel since 28 February, Iran’s energy sector has demonstrated unexpected resilience. Latest shipping data shows that crude oil exports from the Islamic Republic have experienced modest growth driven by demand from China.
Based on tanker tracking estimates, Iranian oil exports now stand at approximately 2.1 million barrels per day, an increase compared to the pre-conflict average of 2 million barrels daily. According to a Wall Street Journal report cited by Palestine Chronicle, an additional 100,000 barrels per day are now exporting from Iranian terminals.
Data from energy intelligence firm Kpler confirms that tanker vessels continue to load crude oil from strategic terminals such as Kharg Island and transit the Strait of Hormuz without significant obstruction. This serves as a strong indicator that Iran’s export infrastructure remains operational thanks to sustained global demand for Iranian oil despite the ongoing conflict.
