Pekanbaru — A total of three Riau Regional Police (Polda Riau) personnel have tested positive for narcotics following simultaneous urine tests conducted across the regional and district police commands.

At the regional level, one officer’s urine was found to contain methamphetamine. At the district level, two personnel tested positive for narcotics — one each from the Dumai and Pelalawan district police stations.

“The three personnel whose urine tested positive for methamphetamine will be subject to further investigation,” said Riau Regional Police Public Relations Chief Senior Commissioner Zahwani Pandra Arsyad on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.

He assured that all procedures are being carried out in accordance with prevailing regulations, specifically referencing Indonesian National Police Regulation Number 7 of 2022 on the Professional Code of Ethics and the Police Code of Ethics Commission.

The process will be conducted through the Professional and Security Division’s examination mechanism, culminating in a hearing before the Police Professional Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP).

Arsyad explained that the surprise urine testing sends a strong message that all personnel must uphold integrity and professionalism in carrying out their duties.

“This also serves as both a preventive and repressive measure in maintaining professionalism and building the integrity of the National Police institution,” he said.

The surprise urine tests were conducted without exception, covering everyone from the Regional Police Chief, Deputy Chief, and senior officials to district police chiefs and all personnel down to the sector level.

The testing also represents a form of tiered supervision and control over National Police members, in accordance with Indonesian National Police Regulation Number 2 of 2022 on Inherent Supervision within the National Police.

“Riau Regional Police is serious about eradicating narcotics, including within our own ranks. This is proof that supervision is being carried out in a real and ongoing manner. If any member is found to have violated the rules, they will be processed according to regulations and the matter will be communicated openly to the public,” he said.
