Surge of Seasonal Hamper Traders in Cikini Area, Revenue Up 50%
As Eid al-Fitr 1447 H approaches, the Cikini Flower Market area is filled with rows of temporary hamper stalls that have emerged since the start of Ramadan. Various types of hampers are offered in this area with varying price ranges, from simple packages containing light snacks to luxury packages with ceramic dining sets and premium cakes.
Whilst traditional Eid hampers were once synonymous with wicker baskets containing biscuits, syrup, and dried cakes, their presentation is now far more diverse. Hampers are sold at prices starting from 85,000 rupiah for simple packages containing four items such as tinned biscuits and syrup. One trader stated that the largest package sold reached approximately 1.1 million rupiah with contents exceeding 20 products.
Meanwhile, another trader reported that sales this year experienced an increase of more than 50 per cent compared to the previous year. The majority of hamper demand comes from companies and individuals who wish to give gifts to employees or relatives.
The Pasar Kembang Cikini area has long been known as a centre for hamper sales during Eid and Christmas seasons.
