Surge in Lebaran 2026 Return Travel by Train from Yogyakarta Begins Tomorrow
Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta, Feni Novida Saragih, stated that the peak of Lebaran 2026 return travel in Daop 6 Yogyakarta will begin to be seen tomorrow, 23 March 2026, marked by 28,148 tickets already booked. The company predicts the return flow will peak on 24 March 2026, with ticket bookings reaching 28,911 and potentially continuing to increase.
“Therefore, the public is once again reminded to book return travel tickets as soon as possible to avoid running out,” she said on Sunday, 22 March. The public can also utilise the Connecting Train feature or Connecting Trains as an option to obtain alternative train services to the desired routes.
She explained that based on preliminary data monitoring as of Sunday (22 March) at 09:00 WIB, the arrival volume in Daop 6 was recorded at 32,854 passengers, which also became the highest arrival figure during this Lebaran transport period.
Meanwhile, the departure volume was recorded at 28,700 passengers. This departure figure also shows an increase compared to the previous day’s departure of 22,713 passengers. This figure remains dynamic along with ongoing ticket sales until midnight later.
“Today or one day after Lebaran, KAI Daop 6 has recorded the highest arrival figure in 12 days of Lebaran transport implementation. This indicates that, in addition to passengers returning to Jogja and Solo or surrounding areas for visits, it also shows that the Lebaran holiday for tourism to spend the remaining joint leave has just begun,” she added.
Feni added that ticket sales for the Lebaran transport period from 11 March to 1 April 2026 as of today have reached 459,948 tickets or 86% of the total ticket capacity provided, namely 532,830 tickets. “There are still 40,073 seats available from stations in the Daop 6 Yogyakarta region that can be booked until the end of the Lebaran transport period on 1 April 2026,” she added.
She further noted that there are six stations with the highest passenger arrival volumes as of Sunday (22 March) at 09:00 WIB:
Yogyakarta Station with an arrival volume of 12,127 passengers
Solobalapan Station with an arrival volume of 7,864 passengers
Lempuyangan Station with an arrival volume of 4,960 passengers
Klaten Station with an arrival volume of 2,347 passengers
Purwosari Station with an arrival volume of 1,622 passengers
Wates Station with an arrival volume of 1,111 passengers
In addition, there are six stations with the highest departure passenger volumes as of Sunday (22 March) at 09:00 WIB:
Yogyakarta Station with a departure volume of 8,907 passengers
Solobalapan Station with a departure volume of 7,518 passengers
Lempuyangan Station with a departure volume of 4,082 passengers
Klaten Station with a departure volume of 2,705 passengers
Purwosari Station with a departure volume of 1,635 passengers
Wates Station with a departure volume of 1,219 passengers
The company once again reminds passengers to double-check train departure schedules and plan travel time from home to the station to avoid being too tight and rushed, so that the homecoming journey remains comfortable. (H-4)

Train ticket sales during the Lebaran transport period also show an increasing trend. As of Sunday (15 March) afternoon or H-6 Lebaran, tickets sold reached 214,624.
