MAGETAN, KOMPAS.com – Beef prices at the Magetan District Vegetable Market in East Java remain high up to the fourth day of Eid al-Fitr. Prices are holding at around Rp 150,000 per kilogram.

Beef trader Suwarniasih said prices were even higher during the holiday. The highest figure reached Rp 160,000 per kilogram.

“It’s already down. Yesterday during Eid, the price reached Rp 160,000 per kilogram,” she said when met at her stall on Tuesday (24/3/2026).

Suwarniasih assessed that this surge happens every year during Eid. Demand increases sharply. Live cattle prices at the farmer level also rise.

“The cause is the high demand during Eid. Meanwhile, live cattle prices at the farmer level have also risen,” she added.

Increases have also occurred in chicken meat. Fresh chicken prices now reach Rp 45,000 per kilogram. Previously, they were in the range of Rp 38,000 to Rp 40,000 per kilogram.

Chicken trader Suprapti said prices fluctuated during Eid. The increase happened gradually.

“This goes up and down; yesterday it was Rp 39,000, during Eid only Rp 40,000 until now,” she said.

Snow peas have surged from Rp 60,000 to Rp 80,000 per kilogram.

Vegetable trader Setyowati said some other commodities remain stable. Carrots, cabbage, and mustard greens have not experienced price changes.

Bird’s eye chilli prices are still holding at Rp 85,000 per kilogram. The supply is deemed not yet normal, so prices remain high.

“The prices of other vegetables like carrots, cabbage, and mustard greens are still stable. Bird’s eye chillies are still holding at Rp 85,000 per kilogram. The increase is because the stock is still low; supply to the market is not yet normal,” said Setyowati.
