Surge in Data Centre Investment and Electricity Demand

Investment to expand data centre capacity is set to continue its upward trajectory. The Indonesia Data Centre Provider Organization (IDPRO) highlights that the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will act as a primary driver for the data centre industry.

IDPRO Chairman Hendra Suryｷusuma estimates that data centre capacity has the potential to grow to 11 Gigawatts (GW) by 2030. This projection reflects a significant surge compared to the national data centre capacity, which has only reached approximately 630 Megawatts (MW) as of May 2026.
