Surge Expands Fixed Broadband Services with Wi-Fi 7 Technology

Digital infrastructure and connectivity company PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk (Surge), through its subsidiary PT Integrasi Jaringan Ekosistem (Weave), is expanding its fixed broadband services with the launch of Starlite Super and Starlite Prime, supported by Wi-Fi 7 technology.

Surge Director Shannedy Ong stated that the development of these services is aimed at improving public access to high-speed internet. ‘Indonesia deserves internet services that are not only fast, but truly world-class,’ he said in an official statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Starlite Super offers speeds of up to 2,000 megabits per second (Mbps) or 2 gigabits per second (Gbps) using XGS-PON and Wi-Fi 7 technology, priced at Rp250,000 per month. Meanwhile, Starlite Prime provides speeds of up to 500 Mbps with GPON and Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6 technology, offered at Rp168,000 per month. Both services come without quota limits or fair usage policies (FUP).

These new offerings complement Surge’s existing fixed broadband portfolio, which includes the Internet Rakyat service based on 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) on the 1.4 GHz spectrum, priced at Rp100,000 per month. Shannedy noted that providing a range of speed and tariff options is part of the company’s strategy to meet diverse consumer needs. ‘With Starlite Super and Starlite Prime, we are redefining fixed broadband connectivity standards to unlock more opportunities for learning, working, innovating, and growing,’ he said.

The services will be available starting 15 July 2026 in areas already covered by Starlite’s fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network. Registration and service management will be handled through the Starlite application, with network expansion to be carried out gradually.

In addition to the launch, Surge received the WBBA Gigacity Champion award at the Broadband Development Summit APAC 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, on 14 July. The award recognised the company’s fixed internet service model, which supports expanded digital connectivity at affordable prices. The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, is also pushing to accelerate fixed broadband services, targeting 50 percent household penetration, fibre optic coverage in 90 percent of sub-districts, and internet speeds of 100 Mbps by 2029 under the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025–2029. Fixed broadband penetration currently stands at around 21 percent of households.
