Surakarta Palace Appoints Hendriyanto Attan as KRH
Hendriyanto Attan, a youth figure from Sumenep, has received the honorary title of Kanjeng Raden Haryo (KRH) from the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace. The conferment was established through Kakancingan Angka 313/KS/08/26, issued by the Pengageng Parentah of the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace.
According to the kakancingan document, the man affectionately known as Attan has been awarded the Riya Nginggil rank as a mark of honour from the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace. The Riya Nginggil rank is said to signify the highest and most honourable position within the field of intelligence.
The title was bestowed as a mandate for the recipient to continually uphold the noble values of Javanese culture and to maintain the dignity and honour of the palace within community life.
“This title is certainly not merely an honour, but a mandate to preserve values, serve the community, and follow in the footsteps of our ancestors to bring about public welfare,” said Attan, who is also a member of the KAHMI management, in a statement on Thursday (3/9/2026).
The appointment document was signed by Sinoehoen Tedjowoelan and bears the official seal of the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace. The decree is dated 31 Wulan Agustus, Year 2026, which coincides with 17 Mulud, Year Be 1960 in the Javanese calendar.
The conferment of the Kanjeng Raden Haryo title is described as a form of respect from the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace towards individuals deemed to possess dedication, service, and contributions in accordance with the sublime values of Javanese culture.
With this title, Hendriyanto Attan now bears the honorary name Kanjeng Raden Haryo Hendriyanto Attan Dharmawisisesa as part of the honourable family of the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace.
Attan is a native of Sumenep, Madura, East Java. Sumenep itself possesses a rich palace history, having once been led by 35 kings.
To date, the history of the Sumenep palace known to the public relates to several kings who enjoyed high popularity during their reigns, as well as preserved historical legacies.
One such figure is King Arya Wiraja, who was inaugurated as the first Adipati of Sumenep on 31 October 1269. This date also serves as the anniversary of the Sumenep Regency.
Arya Wiraja is known as a figure possessing expertise in advisory and strategic planning. Historical records of his services include the founding of Majapahit alongside Raden Wijaya and assisting in the destruction and expulsion of the Tartar troops from the land of Java.
