Surabaya Toddler Fed Cat Food and Abused by Uncle and Aunt

A toddler in Surabaya, East Java, identified by the initials KRN (aged 4), was routinely fed cat food by her uncle and aunt, Ufa Fahrul Agusti (30) and Sellyna Adika Wahyuni (26). Both have now been taken into police custody.

The abuse came to light on Monday (23/2/2026) when Dandi, KRN’s biological father, went to collect his daughter’s belongings from the suspects’ rented room. Whilst there, he received reports from neighbours that KRN was frequently given cat food whenever she asked for snacks.

“When I asked my child, she confirmed it. She said she often ate alongside my sibling’s pet cat,” Dandi said on Monday (23/2/2026).

Beyond that, Dandi added that KRN also recounted an occasion when she asked Sellyna for food because she was hungry but was refused. Sellyna allegedly told the child to eat the sand from the cat’s litter tray instead.

“My child ended up eating sand from the cat litter. I never imagined my own sibling could be so evil,” he added.

In addition to frequent starvation, Dandi said KRN’s hands were once tied in a raised position for four days before local residents finally intervened to help her. When the child cried, her mouth was stuffed with cloth to prevent neighbours from hearing.
