Surabaya to Probolinggo Now Reachable by SuPasPro Commuter, Fares Start at Rp 8,000
The Probolinggo City Government in East Java welcomed the launch of the SuPasPro commuter rail service (Surabaya–Pasuruan–Probolinggo), officially launched to strengthen mobility and boost tourism in the area.
Mayor Aminuddin said the presence of the commuter service offers new hope for residents, particularly those working or active in Pasuruan and Surabaya. He noted that the commuter train would become a new mode of transport that makes travel from Probolinggo to Surabaya more practical and affordable.
In addition, SuPasPro will be integrated with the city’s tourism calendar launched by the local government. The integration of transport and tourism is hoped to increase visitor flows, including tourists heading to Gunung Bromo via Probolinggo.
“Tourists from Surabaya can now visit and stay in Probolinggo more easily. That opens up new economic opportunities for the community,” he said.
The Probolinggo City Government is optimistic that the commuter service will strengthen interregional connectivity, increase mobility, and help the tourism sector and local economy grow more dynamically.
Meanwhile, PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia’s Operation and Commercial Director, Heri Siswanto, said that tickets sold on the first day of operation exceeded 400. He added that the addition of SuPasPro services would not change other train schedules, and the company will continue to evaluate to improve passenger occupancy levels.
Praise also came from Denny Michels Adlan, Head of the Surabaya Class I Railway Technical Office. He regarded the arrival of SuPasPro as the result of good synergy between local government and stakeholders in the railway sector, especially in ensuring compliance with operational safety standards.
From Surabaya Kota Station to Probolinggo Station, trains depart at 01:50 WIB and 18:10 WIB.
As for fares, passengers pay Rp 6,000 for the Probolinggo–Pasuruan route and Rp 8,000 for the Surabaya–Probolinggo journey, and vice versa.
