Surabaya to dismiss secretary
SURABAYA: East Java Governor Imam Utomo has approved the
Surabaya mayor's proposal to dismiss the secretary of his
municipal administration for unspecified reasons, an official
said on Friday.
Eko Yuniarso Arief, head of the city's personnel affairs
division, said the governor had sent a letter to Surabaya Mayor
Bambang Dwi Hartono to endorse the proposed replacement of
Alisjahbana.
In the letter, Utomo also recommended that Alisjahbana's
successor be a person who passed a fit-and-proper test, Eko said.
Of the three candidates who passed the test, Soekamto Hadi,
head of the Surabaya social affairs office, will likely replace
Alisjahbana as he ranked first in the test outcome.
"We will soon send a proposal to the governor to decide on the
successor," Eko said.
It was not clear why Alisjahbana would be replaced. This issue
has sparked controversies among politicians in Surabaya.
Alisjahbana will reportedly be given a new assignment as a
special staff officer at the Surabaya municipal administration.
