Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daerah Operasi (Daop) 8 Surabaya has stated that long-distance train tickets for the Eid period up to 1 April 2026 are still available in sufficient quantities. Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 8 Surabaya, Mahendro Trang Bawono, indicated that tickets sold from 11 March to 1 April 2026 total 452,173, or 80% of the total capacity of 561,528 tickets. “As of today’s data, there are still around 109,355 long-distance train tickets in the operational area of Daop 8 Surabaya that can be booked by the public during the Eid period,” he said in Surabaya, East Java, on Tuesday. He assessed that ticket sales, particularly for long-distance trains, are expected to continue increasing in line with the high public demand for rail transport. Meanwhile, during the period from 11 March 2026 to the present, KAI Daop 8 Surabaya has served 633,977 passengers, with 339,941 departing and 294,036 arriving at various stations in the operational area. Mahendro stated that the peak return flow for Eid 2026 is predicted to occur today, with 54,114 passengers consisting of 30,853 arrivals and 23,261 departures. The increase in passenger volume, he said, has been evident at several major stations in the Daop 8 Surabaya area, such as Surabaya Gubeng Station with 16,656 passengers, Surabaya Pasarturi Station with 15,934 passengers, and Malang Station with 7,788 passengers. “We also urge customers to arrive early at the station, pay attention to the travel route according to the ticket, and consider alternative schedules or connecting journeys to ensure a safe and comfortable trip during the Eid transportation period,” he said.
